Jacuzzi® (USA, founded 1956)

Jacuzzi® is THE brand name for hot tubs — so dominant that "Jacuzzi" became the generic term in Germany (like "Tempo" for tissue paper). Production sites: USA, Mexico, China. The brand has been owned by investment firm Jason Industries since 2007. DE/AT distribution via local importer-dealers.

Hot Spring (USA, founded 1977)

Hot Spring is part of Watkins Wellness (a Masco Corporation brand). Known for EnergySmart technology and the Caldera Spas sister brand. Production site: Vista, California. EU distribution via authorised dealer network.

2. Price comparison (6-person, comparable spec)

Verdict: Wellis Manhattan is 33 % cheaper than Jacuzzi J-385 with comparable spec and a higher jet count. Hot Spring sits in the middle but with fewer jets.

For the entry-level segment (plug-and-play, 230 V), Jacuzzi and Hot Spring offer nothing — both brands sell only three-phase models. Wellis has three plug-and-play models (Mars 3P, Callisto 5P, Castor 6P) from €7,200 — a unique segment in the premium market.

All three brands use polyurethane full-foam insulation. Electricity costs differ mainly via pump efficiency and heater control.

Verdict: Hot Spring Aria is the most efficient in this comparison — the EnergySmart system pays off (15 % lower consumption). Wellis Manhattan sits 5–10 % above. Jacuzzi J-385 is the heaviest user because pump control is less granular.
